When I left Queen’s my future seemed to stretch out before me like a straight road.  I thought I could see along it for many a milestone.  Now there is a bend in it.  I don’t know what lies around the bend, but I’m going to believe that the best does.  It has a fascination of its own, that bend, Marilla.  I wonder how the road beyond it goes – what there is of green glory and soft, checkered light and shadows – what new landscapes – what new beauties – what curves and hills and valleys further on.”  Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

I love the book Anne of Green Gables.  I read it in eighth grade and it changed my life.  I’m a librarian because Anne brought me to places I didn’t know books could take you.  Since then I’ve discovered the hard way that life gives you bending roads; those twists and turns you don’t expect. It’s how I respond to those situation that matter.  I’ve also learned that reading books can be a great way for readers (of any age) to vicariously work through hard times.  That is why I love reading realististic fiction.  This blog discusses and reviews realistic fiction (and other books) I read for work and pleasure.   SH 6/09 ♥ (updated 10/09)
